It so happens I am from Paw Paw and would like you to send me a friend request, as that is my home area(SW Michigan): Or just send me a email of that day's(May 20) listings for WOOD(8) and WKZO(3), as I would like to share them with another Facebook group I am in devoted to vintage Kalamazoo stuff. cr3861@yahoo.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00043758767085991440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-77136026005567046112016-05-09T12:34:28.486-04:002016-05-09T12:34:28.486-04:00This has been several weeks in the stewing ...
-...This has been several weeks in the stewing ...

- As it happens, I have two copies of this issue: the Chicago edition, and the Michigan State edition.
Michigan State covers seven stations in seven different cities, thus:

Ch 3, WKZO-TV, Kalamazoo, ABC/CBS/NBC
Ch 5, WNEM-TV, Bay City, ABC/NBC
Ch 6, WJIM-TV, Lansing, ABC/CBS/NBC
Ch 7, WPBN-TV, Traverse City, NBC
Ch 8, WOOD-TV, Grand Rapids, ABC/NBC
Ch 13, WWTV, Cadillac, ABC/CBS
Ch 57, WKNX-TV, Saginaw, ABC/CBS

Here's the wild part:
ABC has secondary affiliations with six of the seven stations - but most ABC series don't air on any of them.
Not only that - the ones that do get on, don't air in their network time slots (a few exceptions, but the few ABC shows that get on are nearly all delayed broadcasts).
In the listings, NBC shows that clear the full network have this channel alignment:
5-6-7-8
CBS's alignment:
3-13-57
That's all seven stations accounted for.
ABC grabs what it can in fringe times and odd prime hours on the various stations, almost never in the network slots.
Just looking at all the mixing and matching can give you the bends - as it has to me.
So I went back to the Chicago edition, which is at least fully represented and organized.

You always seem to pick the least interesting nights to do your Monday full-day sum-up.
That may be your reason/excuse for the wordplay today.
I wish you'd have done Wednesday.
The U.S. Steel Hour has a really interesting one this week - it merited a Close-Up in both my copies; I'll guess that it did in yours as well.
Challenge:
Take a look at this Close-Up - the play is titled "Hour Of The Rat" - and see if you notice anything interesting in what you read there.
Get back to me on that, OK?

- This season, Mike Wallace had a Sunday night interview show on ABC.
This week, his guest was Aldous Huxley, the author of "Brave New World". He's there to promote a new book of essays titled "Enemies Of Freedom", about threats to freedom in the USA.
Wallace's show aired Sunday at 9 pm (CST); CBS had $64,000 Challenge, and NBC had Loretta Young - you can do the math from there.
And The Mike Wallace Interview didn't get on any of the Michigan stations -at all.
Think about that for a while ...

Mike Dorannoreply@blogger.com
