You can learn a lot about the era by the celebrities who appear on game shows. Password used to have former greats like Joan Crawford and Olivia de Havilland, but by now we have celebs like Robert Walden, who co-stars on Lou Grant, and hometown girl Brianne Leary, who grew up in Tucson and right now appears on CHiPSs.

Wallace and Ladmo is an early, live action Spanish version of the beloved stop-motion animation series Wallace and Gromit. No, it isn't - it's actually a children's show that began in 1954 and ran until 1989, one of the longest-running local kids' shows ever. And it was beloved as well.

KPAZ was(and still is, I assume) a religious channel affiliated with the Trinity Broadcasting Network out of California. Match Game '79 was on it's last legs on CBS, heading for syndication in the upcoming Fall.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that either the Phoenix stations (or maybe another Mountain time zone station that taped network feeds and then played them back for the Mountain time zone) probably taped the second (7 P.M. Easter=n, 5 Mountain) feed of the network evening newscasts, rewound the tape quickly, and aired them on a half-hour delay.
ReplyDeleteWow! Nipsey was on All-Star Secrets *and* Match Game ‘79 this particular week.
ReplyDeleteRobert Walden and Brianne Leary would appear on the Match Game PM panel together later in the year - in addition, Brianne would do two other weeks of Pyramid that year (the Friday episode from her week with Tony Danza is on YouTube, and is very entertaining, with both an unexpected Marilu Henner cameo and a memorable Winners’ Circle!)
ReplyDelete
