Nostalgia can be one helluva drug, but almost everything produced for kids cartoons before Gummi Bears/Tiny Toons was just awful. It never would have gotten caught up in bidding wars for rights to other sports. Their Bundesliga highlight series, Soccer Made in Germany, was actually a more consistent TV presence in this era than the North American Soccer League, and the same could also be said of their NHL coverage, most of which actually came from a syndicated package, but once those ended, PBS was down to a series of Ivy League football, which only aired regionally. oneillb454@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09871027852560385711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-21880524022604059692019-08-27T00:06:14.869-04:002019-08-27T00:06:14.869-04:00That relocated Houston franchise in the NFL(Shreve...That relocated Houston franchise in the NFL(Shreveport) had a guy in their PR department who was quite a talker, as in, he would later be known for it:
Larry King, hello.chckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17064472671332322550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-12215631540765759392019-08-26T01:46:21.440-04:002019-08-26T01:46:21.440-04:00Was the giving away of tickets by WFL teams really...Was the giving away of tickets by WFL teams really called "Ticketgate"? If so, since President Nixon had just resigned this month, this could represent the weary overuse of "-gate" as a suffix to any scandal or thought-to-be scandal. I remember expressing how sick I was of its overuse back in a college class in the 1980s. 30+ years later it unfortunately hasn't abated much from what I've seen & heard.Jonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00483417885845331990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-54863701585166858622019-08-25T13:57:09.461-04:002019-08-25T13:57:09.461-04:00I haven't got this one, so what follows is Gua...I haven't got this one, so what follows is Guaranteed 100% Off-Topic:

- Dan just put up the podcast of Eventually Supertrain #75 - but as usual, he hasn't put up the on-site post.
So Dan, if you're out there … this one's for you:
OF COURSE IT WAS DIANE MCBAIN!!!
As I always seem to have to remind both of you, Warner Bros TV was a factory and a warehouse - they kept everything and everyone.
In 1960, Diane McBain was newly under contract to WB; anything they asked of her, she'd do - bit parts, featured roles, voice-overs, anything.
As it happened, she made pretty good progress: that fall, she scored a regular weekly role on Surfside 6, which turned out to be Bourbon Street Beat's replacement on ABC's Monday night schedule, running two seasons.
And that still didn't stop her from appearing on almost every other show that WB had on ABC (look it up - it doesn't hurt … honest).
Meantimes, Diane McBain will be popping up on at least one more BSB a few weeks from now, so consider yourself warned.
(Note to Dan: when you finally get around to putting up the ES post for #75, I'll have a few things about Masquerade for you and Amanda at that time. Watch For It!)

- Back to you, Mitchell:
It's just come out that MeTV is dropping 77 Sunset Strip from the very-late shift, effective after Labor Day.
In its place will be Barnaby Jones, appropriately enough right after its parent company, Cannon.
Since BJ had 179 episodes, this works out to 36 weeks without repetition.
Well, 77SS was on its fourth go-round in the MeTV graveyard shift, so I guess we'll all have to wait for that DVD release that probably won't happen anyway (or at least a better-quality bootleg … oops, make that C2C).
If I'm the one breaking the news to you, sorry.
This means you won't get to see at least half of Diane McBain's 9 (nine) 77SS appearances.
That said, Barnaby is actually a pretty good show.
At least, you can spot out the episodes with The Most Interesting Man In The World (I told you about Jonathan Lippe/Goldsmith's five guest shots, didn't I?).
Hey, that's something to look forward to …
Mike Doranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14427528138598549103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-74406000241512384752019-08-25T02:57:43.635-04:002019-08-25T02:57:43.635-04:00Second Start would later renamed The Bob Crane Sho...Second Start would later renamed The Bob Crane Show, and would also aired in midseason 1975, while Everything Money Can't Buy would retooled and renamed Good Heavens and won't be aired until midseason 1976.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12502707360040238028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-17918109762625849122019-08-24T19:55:42.423-04:002019-08-24T19:55:42.423-04:00We'll Get By and Sunshine aired, on CBS and NB...We'll Get By and Sunshine aired, on CBS and NBC respectively, in the spring of 1975.Chris Littlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08101546116083716686noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-42421467705500987242019-08-24T15:39:53.356-04:002019-08-24T15:39:53.356-04:00The animated Don Knotts program is an episode of T...The animated Don Knotts program is an episode of The New Scooby-Doo Movies, and The ABC Saturday Superstar Movie aired the all-canine Red Baron effort that was provided by Rankin-Bass.

Yes, Saturday Morning was now largely the domain of pre-established properties, and original concepts would continue to dwindle.
