That angered a lot of Spokane-area viewers and, ultimately, CBS itself who eventually dropped KXLY as an affiliate in 1976 after they fiddled with CBS's prime time schedule one too many times.Lawman592https://www.blogger.com/profile/05592066534913945982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-20699313824248279842020-11-03T23:12:40.956-05:002020-11-03T23:12:40.956-05:00The CBS affiliate in Evansville, IN did the same t...The CBS affiliate in Evansville, IN did the same thing for one season, I believe '73-'74. They ran the sitcoms at 6:30 during the week.. All in the Family on Mondays, M*A*S*H on Tuesdays, MTM on Weds and Bob Newhart on Thursdays. They ran a movie for the 7-9 period on Saturday and left Carol Burnett on at 9. As a kid back then, it was aggravating as I loved camping out in front of the TV on Saturday nights and watching that lineup. They did show them; All in the Family was on Sunday at 9:30, Bob Newhart Tuesday night at 6:30, Mary Tyler Moore Wednesday at 6:30, and M*A*S*H Friday at 6:30. Perhaps they brought in more revenue by carrying the syndicated shows in primetime and showing the CBS programs in the local access slots during the week? Or perhaps they were just jealous that MTM was set in Minneapolis instead of Duluth?Mitchell Hadleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08695771505209080030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-2626875958262638492020-11-02T19:05:27.621-05:002020-11-02T19:05:27.621-05:00The "Movie-Cartoon" early on CBS' sc...The "Movie-Cartoon" early on CBS' schedule is a rerun of The New Scooby-Doo Movies with this particular episode starring an animated version of The Three Stooges (voiced By Pat Harrington Jr. and Daws Butler). As the cowardly Great Dane was a popular fixture on Saturday A.M., one has to wonder why his name is omitted from the listing.top_cat_jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06365510398800837335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-3226598398779538032020-11-02T17:56:20.261-05:002020-11-02T17:56:20.261-05:00So I will bite. Why would KDAL in Duluth pre-empt virtually the entire #1 rated CBS Saturday night lineup to show decidedly conservative fare like "Hee Haw" and "Stand Up And Cheer"? Was it to be different and garner more local ad dollars with syndicated programming? Or was it that they were catering to the sensibilities of the local community?Chuck Collinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06053542340077418929noreply@blogger.com
