(WOR didn't go full color with both locally-produced shows and Mets games simultaneously until 1967 when new General Electric PE-250 cameras arrived.)<br /><br />"Van Sickle" at 6:30 anchoring "Local News" on WABC-TV sounds like Jim Van Sickle, who was a part of the initial crop of newscasters for WNBC-TV's two-hour "NewsCenter4" which launched on April 29, 1974. Speaking of WNBC, this was eight days after Channel 4's newscast was expanded from 30 minutes to an hour, leaving "Movie 4's" start time to be shifted from 5 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. - in essence, "Movie 4" was the first 4:30 movie in town among the network O&O's (WCBS-TV's "The Early Show" would follow on Jan. 3, 1966; and WABC, of course, first parked into that slot on Jan. 8, 1968, but "The 4:30 Movie" title wouldn't take hold until about late January 1969). Robert MacNeil had replaced Bill Ryan alongside Gabe Pressman at the anchor desk; this change, plus the time slot change, led to what had been "The Pressman-Ryan Report" becoming "Sixth Hour News."<br /><br />Also, at WNDT, notice the last program on the list: News by Robert Potts. He would later join WCBS-TV - and also wound up at WNBC at the time "NewsCenter4" was launched.wbhisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02270661237413315760noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6042603612494762084.post-61069555123698739502022-05-16T21:08:37.860-04:002022-05-16T21:08:37.860-04:00Was CAR 54 on WNBC-TV at 8 PM?
