TV
This was my 12th birthday!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the old Minnesota North Stars ever started a Saturday home game at 7:05 P.M. local (though I might be wrong!), so I suspect the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins was from Pittsburgh, where it would have started at 8:05 P.M. Eastern time.
ReplyDeleteKSTP had both of the original "shock talk" shows--Pyne and Burke. And ehat was KAUS carrying on THAT GIRL's slot? (note they don't have capacity to delay in color)
ReplyDeleteWhere were the Duluth and Makato stations? Seems like all your ducks can't fit in such a small space. As for what KCMT had, I'll assume they did a little bit of what WEAU did, with the following possible exceptions: if they weren't too keen about Maya, they might have filled the 6:30 slot with an ABC entry like Judd for the Defense, that hip new courtroom drama starring Donna Reed's ex TV hubby Carl Betz, then after NBC's movie and some local news, they might throw in last Tuesday's Hollywood Palace Xmas show w/Bing Crosby followed by some All-Star Wrestling to cap off the night.
ReplyDeleteTossing up 1952's O' Henry's Full House after Bandstand is another example of KMSP's eclecticity. This film (which I've never seen) contains five short stories, including "The Gift of the Magi", plus a great cast which includes Anne Baxter, Jeanne Crain, Charles Laughton, Fred Allen, Richard Widmark, Dale Robertson, Jean Peters and David Wayne. I just might give this one a ride.
Speaking of birthdays, I celebrated my 4th 3 days earlier, and Anthony DiFlorio turned 8 on November 5th. And to u Mr. Hadley, a Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous new year. Keep on bloggin'!
I wonder if his Minnesota edition did not carry those stations. My Nebraska edition of TV Guide did not carry some western Nebraska stations like the one in Scottsbluff or the NBC station in McCook, which was part of a network out of Wichita. The Nebraska edition I got also had some Iowa and South Dakota stations. The Packer' opponent for the playoff game was the Los Angeles Rams, and the Pack rolled, 28-7. And birthdays? My sister would turn 11 a week later, and I would celebrate my 6th on 1/4/68. Merry (belated) Christmas and a Happy New Year.
