I'll bet Keir Dullea's appearance on Merv Griffin's show has something to do with promoting 2001: A Space Odyssey. Also, with the introduction of CBS's new daytime schedule, you'll notice that all of their soap operas are now 30 minutes long. It's truly the end of an era.

The debut of the new What's My Line?, which will never compare to the classic as far as I'm concerned. Sure, you've still got Arlene Francis, and occasional appearances (until his death) by Bennett Cerf, but you don't have John Daly, and without him you don't have the class and sophistication that marked the original.

The Beautiful Blue and Red Danube, a profile of the wonderful river that runs through both free and Communist Europe, is hosted by Oscar-winning actor Maximillian Schell. TV Guide notes that the show was updated since it was originally shown last year, to account for changes in the wake of the Czechoslovakian crisis.

An intriguing panel on Virginia Graham's daytime show, which I remember frequently seeing during the summer, when I was home and got to watch Mel Jass' matinee movie. Today she has four outstanding guests: freelance writer Joanna Brown, comedy writer Selma Diamond, and Stella Stevens. TV
You are absolutely right about the syndicated What's My Line? I don't believe it would have made it as long as it did without Arlene Francis. But it was not near as wonderful to watch as the classic CBS Sunday night version.
