Oscar winner Red Buttons stars in the half-hour musical "Tippy-Top" on G.E. Theater at 8:00 p.m., as the "imaginary" friend of a lonely boy named Randy, played by Ronny Howard. Mark Sandrich Jr, who co-wrote the musical's book along with Sidney Michaels, is the son of Mark Sandrich Sr., who produced and directed Holiday Inn, among many successful musicals. A little seasonal linkage there.

"Trick or Treason," the episode on Du Point Show of the Week, sounds as if it should have been shown around Halloween, but in reality it's a World War II espionage story, starring Monique Van Vooren about how the Allies fooled the Germans into expecting the D-Day landing at the wrong place.

Interestingly enough, "Henry IV, Part 1," on the NTA syndicated Play of the Week, is not a British import, but a production from the Phoenix Theatre in New York. According to this site, its original airing, in 1960, faced some stiff competition: it was shown on September 26, opposite the first Kennedy-Nixon debate. TV
