What's on TV? Sunday, October 18, 1953

After mentioning in Saturday's review that Sunday was probably the most interesting day in this TV week, I figured we might as well take a look at the entire day's schedule. And we're doing it with not one, but two Milwaukee channels added to the Chicago lineup. WTMJ has been joined by CBS affiliate WCAN, which began broadcasting just one month before, on September 6. As you can see, it doesn't have every CBS program on the schedule, but it will carry a very important one: according to the always-reliable Wikipedia, WCAN will be the only CBS affiliate in Wisconsin to air Edward R. Murrow's See It Now exposĂ© of Wisconsin Senator Joseph R. McCarthy on March 9, 1954. Nothing so dramatic today, but a good lineup nonetheless.

  1. LAMP UNTO MY FEET was on for years Sunday morning. Still love the black and white WHAT'S MY LINE! VICTORY AT SEA: classic score by Richard Rodgers.

  2. Is that the same Frank Reynolds who'd anchor the ABC nightly news 20 years later?
