What's on TV? Saturday, December 17, 1966

You know, I may remember this day, or at least one like it. Football games all day, in all varieties (AFL, college, NFL), and Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol in the evening. They all ring a bell; I have memories that I can date further back than this, so why not? Saturdays were always my favorite days during the Christmas season, and all that goes to show is that I haven't changed any over the years. Oh, but there's one special program I want you all to take note of! At 4:00 p.m. on KCMT, it's the high school choir from the World's Worst Town™! This was six years before we moved there, but what did I say the other day about a rose by any other name? Anyway, let's not talk about it; I'm having such a good day. We're looking this week at the Minnesota State Edition.

  1. The Mighty Heroes or The Super 6?! Glad I was born the day before and didn't have to make that Sophie's choice.

  4. The TV Guide listing for KCMT at 4 P.M. probably read "World's Worst Town High School Choir", with details probably saying "The Choir of the World's Worst Town High School performs Christmas music. They were barred from singing a protest song in which the lyrics demanded that their town get two more local television stations so that they could be able to watch every program on all three networks". 😉.

    1. Hah! I do remember a performance they did when I lived there; the show was running ahead of schedule and the choir was asked to perform another song to fill out the time. They handled the first verse just fine, but only a few of them knew the words to the second verse. I don't feel bad about laughing at it, because some of the choir members were having trouble keeping a straight face as well.
