What's on TV? Sunday, September 5, 1965

It's been awhile since we've looked at a Sunday listing, so why not now? It's typical of the times, a combination of morning religious programs, afternoon matinees and Westerns (along with a little sports, but just a little), and—of course— Ed Sullivan. Who, really, could ask for anything more? The listings come from the Minneapolis-St. Paul edition.

  1. BRANDED could not have been broadcast in color on Sept. 5, since NBC didn't have it in color until the show's fall premiere a week later on Sept. 12. Maybe KSTP-TV was anticipating the show in color too early.

    1. It always was a forward-thinking channel...

    2. Someone at FB explained there was a three-part episode from that first season filmed in color, but aired in black & white originally.

    3. Were they the last there episodes of that season?

Maybe the producers were anticipating renewal, noted NBC wanted to go all-color, and decided to film the last episodes in color.

  2. I suspect that the listing indicating "Rogues" moving to WTCN Channel 11 didn't indicate that it was reruns (as I don't think any episodes were ever made for first-run syndication).

    1. You are correct, more's the pity - it was a fun, literate show. I would have liked another season.
