Another year, another week, another World Series. Nowadays, one can say that all the way to Halloween, but back then baseball had the decency to finish its affairs early in the month and then get out of the way for football. But I digress. You'll notice some unique things if you take the trouble to go through all of the listings. First, we have a pair of twin stations, probably due to common ownership. WWLP and WRLP have the same lineup, as do the WHNP channels 30 and 79, so don't get the idea that I've copied myself. As well, WATR, channel 20, does not colorcast, and the handful of ABC color shows are listed accordingly. I'm sure you'll find other items of interest below.

I assume Jules Feiffer is promoting his book, "The Great Comic Book Heroes" on Today.. I'm genuinely surprised the MSM of this time is giving any heed
ReplyDeleteto such a publication considering the premiere of Batman was still months away to (briefly) make comics "cool" again.
Brian Donlevy does not seem to be a likely talk show guest. I have to assume that he was there in support of one of his movies from that year.
ReplyDeleteWEDH (24) out of Hartford looks like an educational station, though it's listed as Independent. This may be around the time that NET was officially designated as the educational network. I think NET became PBS around 1970 or 1971.
