I remember NBC giving Steve Allen & the Smothers Brothers their own shows this season in appreciation for their appearances on the Emmy Awards show during the strike. I hated the actors for skipping out on the Emmys, as the Academy was only honoring them rather than asking them to perform (in most cases).
