Independence Day!

From July 4, 1972, NBC's broadcast of Oklahoma City's annual Stars and Stripes Show, hosted by Ed McMahon, with Bob Hope, Anita Bryant, Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, Nancy Wilson, and others. The show was staged in OKC from 1969 to 1976, produced locally by WKY and telecast by the network for the last five years. If you're not out watching fireworks tonight, give it a try - and Happy 4th of July! TV

  1. I've been researching TV Guides from the early 60s-to-early 70s for a project on the space race.
One of the issues is the July 2-8, 1966 issue. What patriotic shows were shown on July 4, 1966? Absolutely none! Just standard summertime reruns. July 4 did mark the debut of "Dark Shadows," though!
Info from the Scranton--Wilkes-Barre, PA edition.
